Sebastian Herholz is a passionate downhill mountain biker, who likes physical fabrication and traveling around. In his free time, he crafts light transport algorithms for importance sampling and helps rays find their way through the labyrinth of surfaces and volumes. His Ph.D. studies in the computer graphics lab at the University of Tübingen are in the final stage. They were interleaved with internships at Charles University Prague in 2017 and Weta Digital in 2018/19. During the time in Prague he worked together with Jaroslav Křivánek on algorithms for volumetric path guiding. Later he did another internship at Weta Digital in Wellington, where was able to test the outcome of his research in a production environment while implementing his method in the Manuka renderer.
